Taihan Cable develops ultra-high voltage submarine cable system

Taihan Cable & Solution Co., a South Korean manufacturer of electric wires and stainless steel products for electricity, announced Thursday that it has completed the development of a 154-kilovolt (kv) ultra-high voltage submarine cable system and earned an international certificate.

The 154-kv submarine cables are used in outside networks that connect offshore wind farms and land.

The certificate from the Netherlands‘ testing organization Keuring van Electrotechnische Materialen (KEMA) will allow Taihan Cable & Solution to bid for global submarine cable projects.

The company plans to manufacture ultra-high voltage submarine cables, including 154kv, at a submarine cable factory scheduled for completion in 2025.
