LG adds AI feature to commercial A/C systems

LG Electronics has incorporated artificial intelligence-based predictive maintenance capabilities into its LG BECON cloud, a remote maintenance system for commercial air conditioning systems, the company said on Tuesday.

The LG BECON cloud is a management solution that enables real-time monitoring of the operational status, control, and potential faults of system air conditioners. Starting at the end of February 2024, the system will be enhanced with AI-powered predictive maintenance capabilities that can anticipate potential malfunctions.

The AI predictive maintenance feature uses big data to intricately predict signs of malfunction when abnormal signals are detected within the system. This proactive approach allows for timely intervention and prevents potential issues from escalating.

LG Electronics Service & Maintenance’s subsidiary, Hi-M Solutek, is set to leverage the analytical insights provided by LG BECON cloud’s AI predictive maintenance feature. The company will proactively notify customers about potential faults, empowering them to implement preventive measures and mitigate service overload, particularly during peak seasons.

LG Electronics has undergone a year-long verification process since the completion of the development of the AI predictive maintenance feature in 2023. The company plans to continue upgrading and enhancing the technology to ensure its effectiveness and reliability in the long run.
