LG U Plus, one of South Korea’s top three mobile carriers, is making a bold move to establish itself as a major player in artificial intelligence (AI). The company is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated AI assistant service, slated for release later in March 2024 and a significant step in its AI development.
LG U Plus Chief Executive Hwang Hyeon Sik outlined the company‘s strategic vision at its 28th annual general meeting of shareholders, held on Thursday at its headquarters in Seoul. At the center of this strategy was ixi-GEN, a large language model (LLM) developed by the mobile carrier to leverage telecommunications and platform data developed by LG AI Research, a tech research and development center under LG Group.
LG U Plus’s commitment to customer experience innovation is backed by its strong focus on digital transformation (DX) capabilities, according to Hwang, who then highlighted the company‘s dedication to expanding its AI and data-driven initiatives that are at the forefront of technological advancements.
Hwang also reiterated the company’s dedication to bolstering its platform-based business ventures, including large-scale AI platforms, electric vehicle charging networks, and AI contact center (AICC) solutions.
