SKT, Hyundai Marine team up for AI-driven innovation

SK telecom (SKT) and Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance announced on Thursday that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly pursue innovation in the insurance business by using artificial intelligence technology.

The partnership aims to explore the implementation of AI-based insurance services as part of the insurance industry’s overall transformation. SKT’s diverse AI technologies will specifically be applied to revolutionize business processes within the insurer’s business operations.

As part of the collaboration, SKT plans to integrate its AI language model, A.X, into insurance operations such as an AI call center and chatbot service that responds promptly and accurately to customer inquiries. The initiative will also develop a dedicated LLM process for Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance employees.

SKT will provide support for building an AI infrastructure optimized for Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, and users will be able to access key insurance services from Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance via SKT’s A.dot app.

The two companies also plan to actively collaborate on exploring new business models, leveraging features such as A.dot’s interpretation call function to expand the initiative’s scope to foreign users.
