LG Electronics is set to release a new series of easy-to-understand guidebooks aimed at assisting those who learn at a slower pace and children with developmental disorders to use household appliances independently.

The upcoming publications will cover the usage instructions for washing machines and microwave ovens, expanding the company’s efforts to enhance product and service accessibility for people of all ages and abilities.

On Wednesday, LG Electronics announced the release of the latest installment in its series of easy-to-understand guidebooks focused on washing machines and microwave ovens. Following the positive reception of guides covering refrigerators, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, and TVs that were released in 2023, LG added guides for washing machines and microwave ovens the following year.

The easy-to-understand guidebooks are part of the company’s Home Appliance School project, designed to help slower learners and children with developmental disorders learn how to use home appliances safely, thus allowing them to enjoy independence in their daily lives. The washing machine guidebook can be obtained for free by applying on the company’s website or customer service center until February 16th, 2024, while the guidebook for microwave ovens is scheduled to be released in April.

To enhance educational effectiveness, the washing machine guidebook includes a paper play kit that allows users to learn the usage instructions in a hands-on and intuitive manner.

“We plan to produce easy-to-understand guidebooks in both electronic and English versions to reach a broader audience starting in 2024,” an LG Electronics spokesperson said.

In addition to the guidebooks, LG Electronics is promoting universal accessibility through its Universal UP Kit. This accessory enables individuals, regardless of gender, age, or disabilities, to use household appliances easily without modifying the existing product structure.

The Universal UP Kit serves as a supplementary accessory that ensures anyone can comfortably operate household appliances without the need for significant alterations to the original product design.
