LG CNS, the system integration unit of South Korea’s LG Group, said on Tuesday it has become the nation’s first IT service company accredited for its public cloud security.
The company’s cloud infrastructure service dubbed LG G-Cloud dedicated to public agencies met all of the 117 requirements in 14 categories, including information protection policy, data protection and encryption set by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), the company said in a statement.
The certification is a must for a private company to provide a cloud service to government agencies and public organizations.
The LG G-Cloud is a one-stop service spanning consulting, design, installation and operation.
LG CNS said it will soon launch full-scale cloud consulting and services for public agencies in cooperation with LG Uplus, the group’s internet and mobile service unit.
LG CNS formed a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Service last July and laid out a vision to become a cloud integrator in the following month.
The cloud market in Korea is on a sharp uptrend. According to government data released in January, 114 public agencies used cloud-based systems from the private sector last year, up five times from 23 a year ago.
