NHN Entertainment to set up online education service provider

NHN Entertainment said Friday that it is setting up ‘NHN Edu’ dedicated to handling all its internet-based education services. The software company has been strengthening its online education management service business over the past few years.
In 2015, it launched ‘Unione’ smartphone app, which allows parents to manage children’s after-school study program and schedule, and took over ‘I Am Company,’ a developer and operator of popular school newsletter delivery app ‘I Am School’ last year. The app has nearly 4 million subscribed users.
The company will bring all its education service platforms including Unione and I Am Company under NHN Edu and integrate related services under the ‘I Am School’ brand, according to the company.
An NHN Edu official said the integrated education service would not only help parents gain easier and faster access to latest education information but also communicate better with teachers.
NHN Entertainment shares closed Friday down 4.09 percent at 68,000 won ($63.64).
