South Korea’s building and industrial materials manufacturer KCC Corp. has completed construction to scale up automotive glass production capacity at its plant in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province.

Kcc announced on Tuesday that the facility expansion has ramped up the company’s auto glass capacity to 220,000 tons per annum. It will produce sheet glasses that are 50 percent wider than existing products at the second line to meet the growing demand for wider auto glasses in the market.

The expanded line is expected to begin production in early April as it takes about a month to heat up the glass melting furnace, according to an official from the company.

The facility has been equipped with a system that removes pollutants and fine dust from the furnace to meet the tighter air pollution prevention measures, KCC said. The company that began producing glass in 1987 at Yeoju facility has grown into a global glass maker with five lines for flat glass and one for energy efficient low-emissivity (low-e) glass.

As of 11:24 a.m. on Wednesday, shares of KCC fell 0.57 percent to 348,000 won from the previous session.
