Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) said on Tuesday the state utility and others from Korea were tapped for potential deals worth $93.88 million in smart energy products and service during the World Smart Energy Week 2018 held in Tokyo, Japan.

The annual exhibition, the largest industry fair for renewable and smart energy solutions, attracted 1,580 companies from 33 countries this year.

KEPCO and 10 other Korean SMEs presented their latest technology and products to the visitors at the show held from Feb. 28 to Mar. 2.

Japan plans to expand the proportion of renewable energy to 24 percent by 2030. The Japanese government introduced an auction system to intensify competition among companies for large solar power projects while increasing investments in green energy, giving a positive outlook for renewable energy and smart grid industries.

During the exhibition, KEPCO showcased market-specific energy storage systems, energy monitoring and advanced metering infrastructure solutions, and supported its local suppliers to explore opportunities in overseas markets.
