Hyundai Merchant Marine to bring cloud to order processing system

The company said it will be the first global shipping company to have the system in place and will soon review outsourcing proposals from global cloud system operators such as Amazon, Microsoft and Google. HMM has focused resources on streamlining its business process since last year with a goal of completing its project by 2020.
Building a cloud-based next-generation system is one of its initiatives to cope with the highly competitive market. The company recently tapped staffers with IT background. HMM believes outsourcing a workflow system will help downsize its on-premise data center and bring easier access to emerging technologies such as blockchain and big data analytics.
