British fashion label Reiss opens first store at Shinsegae Department Store

Shinsegae International Co., a merchandising unit of South Korea’s retail giant Shinsegae Group, will open a store of British fashion brand Reiss at Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam on Wednesday, the company announced Tuesday.

It plans to open total 12 outlets of Reiss by the end of this year in Shinsegae Department Store and Lotte Department Store across the country. Founded in 1971 by David Reiss, the fashion label has become famous after the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton wore its dress in her engagement photos. The brand known for high-class design inspired from classical movies and art works is frequently chosen by some of the big name celebrities including Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Jessica Alba.

Reasonable pricing of just 70 percent of other famous contemporary fashion labels is another appeal. Women’s dresses are available at around 300,000 won ($279), women’s jackets at 400,000 won to 600,000 won, men’s suits 700,000 won to 800,000 won, men’s jackets 300,000 won to 500,000 won and shirts 100,000 won to 200,000 won.

Shinsegae International expects Reiss to grow rapidly in Korea as Korean consumers are recently seeking products with high quality at lower prices. An official from the company said the brand is expected to generate high sales as it offers luxurious design at relatively affordable prices.
