SK Magic Co. commanded about 40 percent of the South Korean gas range market last year, retaining the top spot in the market for the second year in a row thanks to its successful application of new technologies including internet-of-things (IoT) to new products.
The company said Wednesday that it sold more than 600,000 units of gas ranges in Korea for the second year in a row last year and cemented its local leadership in the market that it won for the first time in 2016.
It attributed its achievement to bold investments made into new product development projects and aggressive marketing campaigns over the past two years. Formerly Tongyang Magic, the kitchen appliance maker and renter, made a fresh start with new name SK Magic under its new owner SK Networks Co., SK Group’s trading unit late 2016. Since then, it has put great efforts to expand product lineups and release innovative models.
SK Magic introduced ‘Super Cook Gas Range’, the very first and only IoT-equipped range in Korea, and this smart kitchen appliance that allows its users to monitor and control range through a smartphone application has been received well by consumers, the company said.
The company plans to launch more new products topped with latest technologies this year. It said it is getting ready to analyze more than 1 billion pieces of data on range usage pattern collected through its smart range users and incorporate the findings into developing new products.
