CJ Group most sought workplace by Korean jobseekers

CJ family companies have become the most preferred workplace by young Koreans for three years in a row this year.

According to a survey by the local job portal provider Jobkorea, 43.2 percent out of job applicants for big household corporate names named CJ as their first choice. Out of 944 looking for jobs in the first half, 67.2 percent hoped to get a job in a large company.

Samsung Group was the second choice with 25.7 percent, SK Group 25.7 percent, LG Group 25.2 percent, and Shinsegae Group 23.2 percent.

CJ Group is Korea’s 15th conglomerate owning businesses ranging from food, logistics to healthcare and entertainment.

CJ Group was the favorite among graduates with degrees in humanities, social sciences and arts majors, while Samsung was the top choice among natural sciences and engineering majors.

The survey results also showed that 43.3 percent of the respondents considered employee benefits as their top priority in choosing a job, 40.7 percent the type of jobs, 31.0 percent salary, 28.5 percent average length of service, and 24.8 percent work-life balance.
