South Korean telecom giant KT Corp. said Wednesday it will showcase a virtual reality shooting game powered by its 5G technology at the Mobile World Congress 2018, the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry that kicks off Feb. 26 in Barcelona.

Special Force is an online first-person shooting game developed by Dragonfly Inc. that has become a global blockbuster. The VR version, jointly developed by KT and the Korean game developer, will be the world’s first fully-wireless VR game running on super-fast 5G technology, according to the mobile carrier.

The game images are run through virtual walkthrough software that connects the PC to smartphone for a fully immersive experience. It also features KT’s proprietary anti-juddering technology that significantly reduces motion sickness, a common problem raised by VR users.

Special Force VR will be revealed to the Korean audience early next month at Vright, a virtual reality experience zone that KT and GS Retail are set to open in the vibrant college district of Sinchon, Seoul.

KT recently announced plans to bolster its augmented and virtual reality capabilities with aims to generate 100 billion won ($92.9 million) annually from the business by 2020. It also plans to expand Vright and other theme parks to allow more people to experience virtual reality.
