Jeju Air, South Korea’s top budget carrier, said on Monday it has launched its own ground work service unit by renaming Dongbo Air Services into Jeju Air Service (JAS). Jeju acquired Dongbo last October, becoming the country’s first low budget carrier that runs ground work operations

JAS that began to offer services at Incheon, Gimpo and Gimhae airports late last year will provide services such as ticketing and check-in services, ramp/baggage services, cargo and chartered plane work for Jeju Air and foreign airliners.

Jeju Air expects JAS to help create a stable flight operation environment, enable a faster response to emergency and improve on-time performance and service quality.

“We increased the number of employees at the new service unit by 10 percent from 300 after acquisition and add to staff 500 by the end of this year,” said a company official.
