Dongwon Systems to roll out own beverage brands next year

The company said on Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Gangwon Province to build a 70 billion won ($64.8 million) aseptic filling plant at a 105,785 square-meter site in Hoengseong County.
Aseptic filling is a process by which a sterile product is packaged into a sterilized container in an environment free from microorganisms, allowing beverages to be packaged under safe and sanitized conditions.
Dongwon Systems expects the plant to start operations from June 2019 with capacity to roll out 130 million units of beverages a year.
Founded in 1993, Dongwon Systems is Korea’s largest manufacturer of packaging material, supplying tuna cans for its sister food company Dongwon F&B Co. It recently entered the beauty market by launching facial masks under the brand Cinq de Beaute.
“We’re thinking about expanding our business beyond packaging to manufacturing whole beverages,” said an official from Dongwon Systems. “We also plan to strengthen our partnership with Dongwon F&B and other food affiliates to create new synergies and deliver added value for our customers.”
