Hankook Tire joins CDP’s leading green company club

South Korea’s Hankook Tire Co. was named one of the top-graded green companies in the world by CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), a UK-based nonprofit organization that evaluates a company’s contribution to environment protection.

Hankook Tire said on Monday it was included in the supplier engagement leader board by CDP, becoming the first Korean company to join the top list.

CDP monitors and assesses the management information of global companies in areas of environment issues such as climate changes and water and forest protection. Financial firms of all around the world use its annual report as an investment guide.

CDP scores companies by eight levels and companies with the top A grade in protecting the globe from climate changes are included in the supplier engagement leader board. Only 58, or 2 percent, out of 3,300 companies evaluated earned the A grade this year including Apple, Coca-Cola and Honda Motors.

Hankook Tire said its continued effort to implement its low-carbon strategy helped it earn a reputation as the global leading green company.
