South Korea’s tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. and the world’s largest cinema operator Wanda Group opened China’s first cinema installed with Samsung’s light-emitting diode (LED) screen in Shanghai, China.

Samsung Electronics announced on Sunday that it held a ceremony to celebrate the opening of the China’s first LED screen cinema. It is the third theater that the company has installed its Cinema LED screens in overseas markets following installations in Thailand and Switzerland. Wanda Group plans to open the second cinema with Samsung’s LED screens in Beijing in the first half of this year.

The Beijing-based film distributor Wanda Group ranked 380th in the Fortune’s list of global top 500 companies in 2017. It runs 1,352 cinemas with 14,347 screens around the world, accounting for 12 percent of global box office.

The theater located in Yangpu District in Shanghai has Samsung’s LED display that is 10.3 meters wide and 4.5 meters long. Samsung Electronics said that the screen with 4K (4,096 x 2,160 pixels) resolution and high dynamic range (HDR) delivers 10 times clearer picture quality than typical cinema standard. It also offers Harman’s state-of-the-art JBL audio system, according to the company.

Samsung Electronics’ world’s first LED screen for cinemas is expected to revolutionize the global film industry by replacing projector-based screens and providing a whole new kind of film-going experience.
