Posco Daewoo CEO Kim Young-sang
South Korean trading firm Posco Daewoo Corp. will seek to forge more partnerships with global energy giants to bolster its natural gas business, said the company’s chief executive.
“In the fast changing business environment, it is important to enhance strategic partnerships to provide optimal solutions to customers,” Posco Daewoo CEO Kim Young-sang said at an annual meeting of Baker Hughes, a GE Company (BHGE), that brings together oil and gas leaders across the world.
As part of its efforts Posco Daewoo is working to expand supply of high manganese steels in cooperation with Posco, Kim said, adding that the company plans to strengthen the natural gas value chain to meet the various market demands.
Posco Daewoo said Tuesday that Kim attended the meeting held in Florence, Italy, as the only Korean panelist to speak about business strategies to adapt to the rapidly changing trends in the oil and gas industry. The BHGE’s annual meeting is one of the biggest events for the industry where global energy leaders gather together to discuss industry issues, emerging technology, digital innovation and new business models.
This year’s meeting that ran from Jan. 29-30 (local time) was attended by 1,400 representatives of global oil and gas majors including GE, Aramco, Royal Dutch Shell, BP and Statoil.
