Korea’s budget beauty brand Nature Republic lands in Indonesia

South Korea’s budget cosmetics brand Nature Republic Co. has opened its first Indonesian outlet - also its first overseas store - in the capital Jakarta, with an aim to add nine more in the Southeast Asian country this year.

Nature Republic said Thursday its first Indonesian store commanding a space of 142 square meters opened on Wednesday at Lippo Mall in Jakarta Barat, a popular hangout place for teens and 20-something.

The company aims to open total 10 outlets in cities like Bandung, Surabaya and Bali by the end of this year, said an official at the company.

Nature Republic expects that Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim country, will be a stepping stone to other Muslim communities.

The economy backed by the world’s fourth largest population has been expanding by more than 5 percent annually.

Following its entry into Indonesia, the company will seek to expand its business in the Middle East and European countries, the company said.
