Kolmar Korea Co., South Korea’s leading cosmetics original development manufacturer (ODM), is developing new cosmetics and health supplements using sea snails.
The company said Wednesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Monvenus Inc., Seoul-based organic cosmetics maker, and Gyeongsang National University’s marine sciences department to study sea creatures living in the southern sea areas of Korea and develop new cosmetics and health supplement products.
Many cosmetics makers around the world have turned eyes on sea creatures, especially sea snails, for their advantages in effectively helping to treat fine lines and wrinkles as well as keep skin moisturized. Also, sea snails reportedly are effective in easing diabetes symptoms, improving the immune system, and recovering fast from fatigue.
The joint research team plans to develop new cosmetics and health supplement using not only sea snails but also other marine organisms such as oysters and sea algae, said a Kolmar Korea official.
At 2:06 a.m. Friday, shares of Kolmar Korea were down 0.11 percent at 91,100 won ($85.48).
