Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its new electric vehicle brand EQ for the first time in Korea, aiming to roll it out in the market during the first half of this year.

Mercedes-Benz Korea said on Friday it began to display two models of The New GLC 350 e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid SUV under the new sub-brand at the second terminal of Incheon International Airport, west of Seoul, which was open on Thursday.

Mercedes-Benz is preparing to focus resources on the project of CASE which stands for Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Service and Electric cars.

Mercedes-Benz earlier said it plans to offer an electric version of every model it sells globally by 2022, with a total of at least 50 electric or hybrid models for sale.

The crossover model can produce a system power of 235 kW (320 hp) on a 2.0 liter new gasoline engine and an 8.7 kWh high-voltage lithium ion battery. The high-performance hybrid can drive on a pure electric mode for 34 kilometers, according to the company.

"We wanted to show off the EQ vision in pursuit of smart mobility at the new terminal of International Airport, the smartest airport in the world. The brand encompasses charging and all other elements related to future mobility initiatives beyond electromotion,” said a Mercedes-Benz Korea official.
