Kosdaq closes at near 16-year high of above 900

The secondary Kosdaq closed 1.08 percent or 9.62 points higher on Tuesday at 901.23. It is the first time for the tech and bio-heavy index to finish above the 900-mark in nearly 16 years.
The Kosdaq opened at 889.23 on Tuesday, down 0.27 percent from the previous session’s close. The index climbed thanks to strong appetite by both foreign and institutional investors to close at the daily peak. Institutional investors net purchased 72.3 billion won ($68 million) worth of shares and foreign investors 45.1 billion won. Foreign investors were buyers for a third consecutive day on Tuesday. Retail investors net sold 98.2 billion won worth of Kosdaq shares.
The primary Kospi also closed at 2,521.74, up 0.72 percent or 18.01 points from the previous day thanks to strong foreign buying.
