South Korea’s leading budget carrier Jeju Air Co. will launch a new daily route from Busan to Cebu, the Philippines, on February 10, the company announced on Tuesday. The new flight will depart from Gimhae International Airport at 10:40 a.m. and arrive in Cebu at 2:05 p.m. (local time).

By adding the new route, Jeju Air will run international flights to 10 cities of 6 countries from Gimhae International Airport. The budget carrier began servicing international routes departing from the southern port city Busan in June 2011 by launching a flight to Bankok, Thailand, and has been adding flights to Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okinawa, Taipei, Guam and Saipan.

Jeju Air has expanded routes at Gimhae Airport as part of efforts to make it as its second-major airport as Jeju International Airport is already saturated. The airline carried 1,011,042 overseas flight passengers at Gimhae Airport last year, up 43.5 percent from the previous year. About 11.6 percent of overseas flight passengers at the airport used Jeju Air last year. An official from Jeju Air said that it will continue to add new international flights to South East Asian countries and elsewhere at Gimhae.

As of 1:37 p.m. on Tuesday, shares of Jeju Air rose 1.72 percent to 35,500 won in Seoul trading.
