South Korea’s chemical and green energy company OCI Co. said on Wednesday its 4MW solar power plant is now up and running in Namhae, southernmost coast in South Gyesongsang Province. The new solar power plant was built together with photovoltaic plant builder Woosung Ace last November.

Construction was financed by OCI’s project fund worth 130 billion won ($122 million). The solar farm sits on flat land of 39,720 square meters and the construction had little impact on the environment, according to the company.

OCI was responsible for financing and EPC (engineering, procurement and construction), and Woosung Ace and its construction. OCI will manage and run the power plant for the next 20 years. The plant can generate electricity of up to 5,200㎿h per year, which can power 1,400 households.

OCI said another 6㎿ solar farm under construction in the province will enter into full commercial operations this year. OCI aims to build solar power plants whose capacity will reach 100㎿ in total in Korea this year alone.
