Dairy products manufacturer Purmil shifts to owner management

Purmil Co., a South Korean manufacturer of dairy and related food products, on Wednesday promoted its vice president Shin Dong-hwan to president, giving the owner family control over the company that has been led by a professional manager.

Shin - the second son of Shin Joon-ho, chairman of Purmil and younger brother of Lotte Group Chairman Shin Kyuk-ho - joined Lotte Confectionery Co. in 1998 and became vice president of Purmil in 2016. It is the first time for Purmil to be led by an owner family member after spinning off from Lotte’s milk manufacturing unit in 2007.

Shin said that he will put out efforts to communicate with employees and develop the company into one that advances together, based on his 20 years of experience in the food and beverages industry. The new president also added that he will strive to promote stable growth with high quality products produced by the company that celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

Purmil - formerly known as Lotte Dairy founded in 1978 - spun off from Lotte Group in April 2007 and changed its name.
