Hyundai Motor Group wins U.S. Good Design Award

Two awards went to G80 Sport and GV80 Concept under the luxury brand Genesis. Hyundai’s 2018 Sonata sedan was also on the list along with Kia’s Stinger sports sedan, Niro plug-in hybrid and Rio subcompact.
Now in its 67th year, the Good Design Award is the oldest and one of the most distinguished design awards in the world presented annually by the Chicago Athaneum Museum of Architecture and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The award honors innovative and cutting-edge design in 27 categories including electronics, medical and furniture. This year the program received more than 900 entries from some of the world’s major manufacturers in 37 countries.
Genesis is a three-year recipient of the award, winning one for its debut model G90 in 2015 and for the Vision G Coupe in 2016.
Hyundai’s latest mid-size sedan was praised for its dramatic design changes that resulted in a bolder, more sophisticated exterior.
Kia said it was proud to see three of its main models recognized not only for their excellence in performance but also in design.
