SK C&C, the IT solution unit of South Korea’s SK Group, has joined forces with Amway Korea, a health and beauty products provider, to develop artificial intelligence (AI)-based customer service robot.

SK C&C announced on Monday that it signed a business agreement with Amway to develop a customer service robot by applying Aibril, the company’s IBM Watson based AI service that can communicate in Korean and features image recognition technology. The two companies plan to put the guide robot in service at Amway’s brand center located in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, in March 2018.

The robot will be able to guide customers to find products by using self-driving technology. It will also provide History Wall tour introducing Amway’s history, and frequently asked questions (FAQs) service through natural language conversation technology.

The robot will be produced by the local robot developer Robocare. An official from SK C&C said that the company will offer Aibril-based robot service to various industries including the retail sector.
