South Korea’s KB Kookmin Bank has joined hands with the largest bank in the Philippines to better serve Korean residents and tourists in the country.

The bank said on Friday it signed an agreement with BDO Unibank to expand the scope of its banking services for Korean customers living and visiting the Southeast Asian country.

BDO Unibank is the biggest bank in the Philippines with over 1,100 branches and a staff of about 31,500. It has been running the largest banking division dedicated to Korean businesses in Southeast Asia for eight years.

Under the agreement, the two banks will expand retail banking services for Korean clients, share tips on improving service quality and operate a new client program for Koreans prior to departure, according to a KB Kookmin Bank official.

The number of Koreans residing in the Philippines is estimated at around 100,000, with more than 1.5 million visiting the country annually.
