SK Telecom said on Monday it has launched a service for facility maintenance companies to monitor and remote-control energy producing equipment via its Internet of Things (IoT) network called LoRa.
The new service features real-time collection and analysis of data on facility operations and respond to a breakdown in a fast and cost effective manner, the company said.
The service is also accessible through a mobile app. Data amassed from the long-term use of the service will be applied to big data analytics to develop a more advanced service that enables part failure diagnosis and preemptive replacement, according to the company.
The company said it aims to expand the IoT-based system maintenance service toward general manufacturing facilities to ensure smart facility maintenance practices in time with the fourth industrial revolution.
