SK Holdings C&C, the IT solutions unit of South Korean conglomerate SK Group, has joined hands with life insurer AIA Group to develop artificial intelligence-enhanced health programs for the Korean market.

The Korean company said on Wednesday it partnered with the pan-Asian life insurance group to integrate SK Aibril, its Watson-based AI computing program, with AIA Vitality, the insurer’s science-backed wellness platform.

AIA Vitality is a wellness program that provides people with information through wearable devices and motivates them to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Users that meet their personal health goals are rewarded with cashback and discounts.

“We will leverage artificial intelligence to study the behavior of AIA Vitality users and use that data to create customized health services,” said a SK official.

AIA Group, which plans to set up a legal entity in Korea in early January, aims to make AIA Vitality available for Korean customers next year after fine-tuning the program through its collaboration with SK.

The signing ceremony was attended by SK Holdings Chief Executive Jang Dong-hyun, SK Holdings C&C CEO Ahn Jeong-ok, AIA Group Regional Chief Executive Bill Lisle, and AIA Korea CEO Cha Tae-jin.

“We will continue driving various technologies such as AI, cloud and big data to help our customers lead healthier, better lives,” said Jang.
