South Korea’s Posco Daewoo Corp. has won a $60 million deal to supply facilities to Pakistan’s largest paper producer.
The Korean trading company said on Thursday it will install a 195 meter-long paper machine and equipment for manufacturing and raw material processing at the Century Paper & Board Mills (CPBM) plant in Lahore, Pakistan’s second-largest city.
Posco Daewoo would manage the project from design, procurement and transportation to installation and test run of facilities. Construction would be outsourced to a Pakistani builder, it said.
This is Posco Daewoo’s second order from CPBM after the Korean company won the first order in 2005. The company attributed the latest deal to the successful running of the previous plant, which began operation in 2008.
Posco Daewoo plans to leverage its paper plant experience in China, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia to advance into the Indian market.
