Asialaw Profiles picks Korea’s Shin & Kim as M&A law firm of this year

Asialaw Profiles, issued by Euromoney, a United Kingdom-based monthly magazine focused on business and finance, publishes research and analysis on legal issues for professionals in the legal services market in the Asia Pacific region, as well as rates the regional law firms in various areas.
Asialaw Profiles on Wednesday picked Shin & Kim as the winner for its first Asia-Pacific Legal Practice Awards during the ceremony that took place in Hong Kong, citing the Korean law firm’s active role in advising top corporate M&A deals in Korea.
Shin & Kim has advised Woori Financial Group’s privatization deal, Han & Co.’s acquisition of Ssangyong Cement Industrial Co., Kakao Corp.’s buyout of Loen Entertainment Inc., SK Networks Co.’s takeover of Tongyang Magic Inc., and General Electric Co.’s stake disposal of Hyundai Card Co. and Hyundai Capital Co. Shin & Kim’s corporate M&A team is currently joined by about 100 attorneys with expertise and abundant experience in M&A.
The law firm has also been offering legal services to Korean companies in overseas deals. Shin & Kim has led CJ Logistics Co.’s acquisition of Vietnam’s biggest logistics company Gemadept and CJ CGV-IMM PE consortium’s purchase of Turkey’s largest movie theater chain operator Mars Entertainment Group. It also advised Fila Korea’s acquisition of stakes in Acushnet Holdings Corp. and the initial public offering of the Titleist brand owner in the New York Stock Exchange.
