Hancom MDS Inc., an embedded solution services provider under South Korea’s leading office software developer Hancom Group, said on Tuesday that it secured 58.07 percent stake in CoreBell System Inc., a developer and manufacturer of intelligent robots and robot components, in a move to advance into the bourgeoning robotics market. The financial terms were not disclosed.
CoreBell - established in 2002 - is a provider of autonomous mobile robot control technology and indigenous developer of industrial robots. The company supplied specialized guide robots to Seodaemun Museum of Natural History, Museum of Gugak, and Daegu National Science Museum, as well as industrial robots such as automatic guided vehicles to Chungju Wonye Nonghyup, Seongju Wolhang Nonghyup, and Coway Co.
The latest acquisition is expected to allow Hancom MDS to establish its own system to advance into the growing intelligent robot business industry.
An unnamed official from Hancom MDS said that the company will continuously seek for merger and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and research and development collaborations that help create synergy with the company’s embedded software and Internet of Things technology to engage in smart robot business.
