Korea’s Aekyung Industrial sets up Chinese entity

Aekyung Industrial Co., a South Korean household and personal care product maker, said Tuesday it has opened its first limited entity in China mostly for beauty care business amid signs of revived business opportunities in the world’s biggest consumer market after Seoul and Beijing patched up their row over a security issue.

The upgrade comes after the company first installed a liaison office in Guangzhou in 2013.

The new entity based in Shanghai is wholly owned by Aekyung.

AK (Shanghai) Trade Ltd. aims to penetrate the Chinese market with its cosmetic brands Age 20’s and LUNA. The bestselling item of Age 20’s is the essence cover pact. LUNA is gaining popularity among young women for its long lasting tip concealer and perfect fit moist pact.

Sales have been surging in China, growing 42 percent in 2015 and 112 percent last year, according to an official from Aekyung.

The company said it expects to boost sales with more agile marketing through its local presence in China.
