NCsoft Corp., a South Korean online game developer, said Tuesday it will officially launch Lineage M, a mobile version of its mega-hit game Lineage, in Taiwan next month. The mobile role-playing game will be available from Dec. 15 through Gamania, the largest online game company in Taiwan.
The company said the number of preregistrations for the game in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau reached 2.51 million since preorders started on Oct. 10.
Taiwan is the first foreign country where the PC version game was launched, and cumulative sales there amounted to about 750 billion won ($683.4 million) with 9 million member users.
NCsoft said it will also roll out the game in Japan sometime early next year. The new mobile game became a great hit in Korea, pushing the company’s earnings to a record high in the third quarter.
At 2:00 pm, shares of NCsoft climbed 4.41 percent 461,500 won.
