South Korea’s exports stayed robust, keeping up near double-digit growth in the first 20 days of November helped by unfazed demand in semiconductors and petrochemical products.

According to the Korea Customs Service (KCS) Tuesday, exports rose 9.7 percent on year to reach $29.8 billion from Nov. 1 to 20 and be on a solid path to extend growth streak for the 13th straight month at the end of the month.

Daily shipment averaged $1.92 billion, up 9.7 percent from the same period last year, but slightly off the October average of $2.5 billion.

The main growth drivers were semiconductors and petroleum products, which jumped 63.5 percent and 45.0 percent respectively. Automobile shipment also increased 6.0 percent on year.

Shipments of mobile communication devices fell 9.9 percent and ship delivery also tumbled 67.7 percent from a year-ago period.

By country, exports to Vietnam jumped 39.4 percent, followed by China 21.1 percent and the U.S. 11.0 percent. Shipments to Singapore and Taiwan dwindled 55.1 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively.

The nation’s imports reached $27.6 billion during the first 20 days in November, up 14.0 percent from a year earlier, to deliver a trade surplus of $2.2 billion.
