South Korea will be able to up its share in the global commerce to a new record this year thanks to brisk global demand in electronic components and vehicles, according to a local research institute.
According to a report by the research arm of the Korea International Trade Association, Korean products accounted for 3.33 percent of global commerce in the first half. The best-ever share was 3.19 percent in 2015.
Exports share in the Korean gross domestic product reached a five-year high of 78.5 percent as of September. Exports in the first nine months rose 6.2 percent against a year-ago period, marking the second biggest growth after Hong Kong among the world’s top 10 exporting countries.
High-tech exports such as electric vehicles and OLED displays jumped 27.5 percent from a year ago.
