South Korea’s Hotel Shilla Co. opened a cosmetics and perfume duty-free corner at the newly opened Terminal 4 in Singapore Changi Airport.
The outlet commanding a space of 1,825 square meters and selling 117 brands including 16 Korean labels is placed in a hard-to-miss spot as travelers make their way to boarding gates from immigration desks.
The retailer studied on-flight shopping patterns at major airliners for effective display. Top shelves went to Chanel, Estee Lauder and other popular labels.
Singapore’s Changi Airport is a major global hub that competes every year with Korea’s Incheon International Airport for the best airport ranking.
Hotel Shilla has been branching out its duty-free operation overseas, opening a shop at the Macau International Airport in November 2014. It will add another one at the Hong Kong International Airport next month. It opened off-airport duty-free shops in Phuket, Thailand last year and downtown Tokyo this April.
