Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP), the country’s operator of nuclear reactors, Monday announced it will attract 115 suppliers on its value chain in the vicinity of Gyeongju in Southeastern Korea, where its new headquarters is located, by 2020.

The plan was unveiled during its corporate presentation held at a hotel in the city on Monday.

The state-run operator of nuclear power plants has conducted a project to attract nuclear power-related companies to the city after its headquarters relocation from Seoul to Gyeongju in March of last year as part of the government’s decentralization plans.

To date, 59 suppliers including KEPCO KDN Co.’s ICT Center and AREVA Korea with 680 employees in total have moved their base to Gyeongju.

KHNP said it aims to create 500 jobs in the community with the relocation of employee residence affecting 2,000 by the target year. Relocating suppliers are eligible to access office rent support and low borrowing costs.
