Kia Motors, Korea’s second largest automaker, said it expects to achieve 1 million unit sales milestone with its compact car Kia Morning in the shortest period among its vehicle fleet.
According to Kia Motors on Monday, the cumulative sales of Kia Morning reached 994,686 units at the end of last month and are expected to exceed 1 million units this month. The compact vehicle has sold an average of 6,000 units per month since its launch in 2004.
It joins Kia’s million-seller list that includes Pride (including Avella and Rio) and K3 (including Sephia, Shuma, Spectra, Cerato and Forte). Each took 21 years and 22 years to reach 1 million sales mark, respectively. Morning would have made a record with 13 years.
To celebrate the milestone, the car will throw buyers of 5,000 units of Morning and 700 units of Ray discounts of 7 to 9 percent for Morning and 5 percent for Ray.
An additional discount of 200,000 won will be offered to those who have already owned a compact model or who buy a compact car for the first time.
