South Korea’s largest automaker Hyundai Motor Co. inked a contract worth about 16 billion won ($14.4 million) to supply a total of 182 medium- and heavy-duty trucks to the Uzbekistan environment ministry, the company said on Monday.

Under the terms of agreement, the Korean automaker will ship 130 ‘Mega Trucks’, 49 ‘New Power Trucks’, and three ‘Mighty’ trucks to Uzbekistan. The company had supplied 200 medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks to the Uzbekistan environment ministry in 2001 as well.

The fleet will be employed for road cleaning service in Tashkent, capital and the largest city of Uzbekistan. Hyundai Motor will customize the trucks for cleaning service and ship them out to Uzbekistan by February next year.

Hyundai Motor won the deal in a competition with global truck heavyweights Germany-based MAN Truck & Bus and Japan-based Isuzu Motors, said the company.

The Korean automaker has been upping efforts to expand its reach in global commercial vehicle market. It debuted ‘HD36L,’ a light-duty truck designed for oversea markets at the International Commercial Vehicle Auto Show (Comtrans 2017) held in Moscow, Russia early September. It also showcased ‘All New Mighty’ truck, which was launched in Korea in 2015 at the tradeshow to attract Russian commercial vehicle customers.

It has won a series of new orders on commercial vehicles in recent years. Last year, it bagged a deal to supply 500 ‘Aero City’ buses to the Turkmenistan government and signed a number of new contracts this year including 200 ‘County’ buses to Myanmar, combined 360 heavy-duty trucks to Saudi Arabia, and 500 ‘Xcient’ heavy-duty trucks to Indonesia.

At 1:18 p.m. on Tuesday, shares of Hyundai Motor were down 1.89 percent at 155,500 won.
