Posco to make push in developing electric car parts

The company declared its ambition to become a “total EV solution provider” at the Global Electric Car Parts Forum 2017 held at its global R&D center in Incheon on Tuesday. Some 150 companies in the electric car parts industry attended the event, where executives from Posco and its subsidiaries explained their current EV related businesses and showcased the company’s core technologies.
One of Posco’s leading products is giga steel, a type of ultra-high strength steel that is lighter but stronger than existing steel products. Posco is also the first domestic company to succeed in locally producing EV lithium batteries, which have previously relied on imports.
Posco ESM and Posco Chemtech Company are producing and supplying positive and negative electrode materials that are essential to power electric cars. Another subsidiary Posco ICT is the only company in the country to provide total EV services, from installation and maintenance of charging facilities to membership management and additional services.
The forum was divided into three sections - light materials, engine motor and batteries - and client companies held talks to discuss customer needs, market trends and development status.
