Renault Samsung Motors Co., the South Korean unit of French carmaker Renault S.A. appointed Dominique Signora, a financial expert at the French automaker, as its new chief executive officer.

Signora replaced Park Dong-hoon, Renault Samsung Motors’ first Korean national CEO who led the unit since March last year.

Signora, 50, joined Renault Group in 1991 and has mainly worked in finance.

He was the vice president and managing director of RCI Bank and Service, automotive financing unit under Renault Group before his new job in Korea. He also served as CEO of RCI Banque Korea, general manager for sales finance team at Nissan Motors Ltd in Japan, and director of RCI Banque’s Americas Region.

Signora in his inaugural address to employees reaffirmed the automaker’s goal to offer the best-quality cars and secure its position as the third-best seller in Korean auto market on top of increasing synergy with its partners.

Renault Group in early October announced a new six-year plan dubbed ‘Drive The Future,’ vowing to expand production and leverage research and development from Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, the world`s largest automotive alliance.
