South Korea’s stock operator Korea Exchange chose Jung Ji-won, president and chief executive officer of Korea Securities Finance Corp. as its new head, the institution said on Tuesday.
The recommendation will be put to a vote in an ad hoc shareholders’ meeting on Oct. 31.
Jung was pitted against Choi Bang-gil, former CEO of Shinhan BNP Paribas Asset Management.
Jung started off public office at the finance ministry. He has served as the CEO of Korea Securities Finance since December 2015 and still has 14 months left in the office. He worked as the director of banking and insurance division at the Financial Services Commission in 2012.
