South Korea’s LG Corp., the holding company of conglomerate LG Group, was named as the 10th best employer among 500 global companies, becoming the only Korean company that has made it to the top 10 list in the 2017 World’s Best Employers ranking, according to U.S. business journal Forbes.

Forbes on Sunday announced its first-ever World’s best employers list after reviewing working conditions, image and diversity of 2,000 companies from 58 countries across the world to select the 500 best employers. Among the 500 companies, LG Corp. ranked 10th joining the top ten club crowded with U.S. companies. Google parent company Alphabet took the top spot, followed by Microsoft, Japan Exchange Group, Apple, and Noble Energy.

Besides the holding company, three other LG companies were included in the list with LG Display ranking 33rd, LG Household and Health Care 188th and LG Electronics 400th.

Among other Korean companies, Samsung Electronics ranked 65th place, taking the highest spot out of all Samsung companies. Three other companies with Samsung name plates were included in the list - Samsung SDS (85th), Samsung Life Insurance (156th) and Samsung C&T (256th). Other Korean companies in the list include CJ Cheiljedang (67th), Naver (132nd), Posco (196th), Hyundai Glovis (264th), and Amorepacific (275th).

By country, a total of 18 employers were Seoul based, placing South Korea to the seventh place. The United States dominated the list with 161 employers, followed by China with 44, Japan with 41, France with 29, Germany with 26, and the United Kingdom with 23.

The recent analysis was based on Forbes’ 2017 Global 2000 rankings, which featured 2,000 companies in reference to sales, profit, assets and market cap, according to Forbes. For the latest list, the U.S. business magazine analyzed 36,000 global recommendations of employees to select top 500 names. Employees were asked to evaluate their current employer, name the companies they want to work for and recommend to family members or friends.
