LG Electronics advances into home beauty market in Korea

South Korea’s electronics giant LG Electronics Inc. on Monday has ventured into the country’s bourgeoning beauty and personal care market by rolling out four premium home skin care devices.

The company showcased four premium personal skincare devices under the brand LG Pra.L at an event on Monday in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul. Pra.L refers to fundamental beauty, according to LG Electronics.

Personal beauty care appliances include products that help improve skin condition such as loose skin, face wrinkles, and acne, and through waxing. LG Electronics’ four products include Derma LED Mask (priced at 799,000 won, $705.5), Total Lift-up Care (499,000 won), Galvanic Ion Booster (349,000 won), and Dual Motion Cleanser (249,000 won).

LG Electronics’ advancement into the local beauty care market comes at a time when Korean-made beauty products and skincare systems are gaining popularity not only at home but also abroad. Korea itself has grown to the world’s fourth largest skincare market.

According to the company, the Derma LED Mask helps improve overall skin tone and tightness of the skin, using wavelengths of light emitting diode (LED) light. The Total Lift-up Care is a multi-appliance that uses high frequency, LED lights, and micro-current stimulation to lift the skin and improve tightness. The Galvanic Ion Booster helps active ingredients in cosmetics penetrate deeper into the skin while the Dual Motion Cleanser helps wash skin up to 10 times better than with simple hands as it uses a brush connected to two motors.

LG Electronics said that the four products have been tested on 100 individuals by external agencies for safety and efficiency. Based on the test, 98 percent showed significant improvement in their skin conditions and all four products showed no side effects.
