Sony Korea Corp. said Tuesday it will officially launch its latest Android smartphone Xperia XZ1 in Korea on September 20 with pre-orders to open September 12-18.

The phone’s price will start at 799,000 won ($706.9) in Korea. Xperia XZ1 Compact, a trimmed down version in a 4.6-inch body, is scheduled to be released in October with the price undetermined.

Unveiled in Europe’s largest tech event IFA 2017 early this month, the two handsets would be the first to introduce the latest Android operating system Oreo with a new 3D scanning camera feature.

The pre-loaded app called 3D Creator allows users to scan an object in 3D to build up a 3D character within a minute. Users simply need to line up the object in the guidelines and move the camera steadily around it. The created image can be shared on Facebook and other social media sites.

The phone’s Predictive Capture can track facial expressions and fire off a shot when it spots a smile. And when the users take a shot, the camera will present them with four images to choose from.

The two models are equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor for improved processing speed.

Xperia XZ1 features a Motion Eye camera sensor with 19-megapixel resolution that enables users to shoot super slow-motion videos. It also has a 5.2-inch full high dynamic range (HDR) display and a high-resolution audio that can cancel up to 98 percent of background noise.

The Xperia XZ1 Compact comes with similar functions as the XZ1 but with a 4.6-inch high-definition (HD) display.
