Mercedes-Benz maintained its top position in the Korean imported car market for three months in a row in August while BMW 520d regained its title as the best-selling model in four months.
According to Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA), a total of 17,547 imported cars were sold last month, up 10.1 percent from a year ago. Sale was down 0.5 percent from a month ago as August is usually a slow month.
Mercedes-Benz ranked first after selling 5,267 units, followed by BMW with 4,105 units, up about 1,000 units from 3,188 in July.

They were trailed by Toyota (1,210 units), Lexus (1,201 units), MINI (826 units), Ford (792 units) and Land Rover (743 units). Honda fell to the 10th by selling only 541 cars, halved from 1,001 units in July due to the quality issue over its flagship model.
The best-selling model in August was BMW 520d, selling 921 units, followed by Lexus hybrid ES300h with 733 units and Mercedes-Benz E220d 4MATIC with 690 units.
