Samsung Elec, Gangnam Severance and FNI join up for VR, AI psychotherapy

South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co., Gangnam Severance Hospital and FNI Co. said they signed a memorandum of understanding to develop and apply VR and AI technologies for psychological therapy.
The service available from 2018 will build an integrated therapeutic platform to reduce suicide impulses.
The team will further progress with a business model using mobile VR health management technology to combine medical science and IT.
The device makers will provide VR diagnostic kits and specially-designed chairs for psychological analysis, VR mental health management app with psychological evaluation and training functions, and AI diagnosis system.
Samsung will be in charge of providing the hardware devices like the VR headset, Gear S3 smartwatch, FNI VR contents, and Gangnam Severance Hospital its big medical data.
